Somarela Puo Publishers' vision is to be one of the very best self-publishers in South Africa, promoting indigenous languages, especially Setswana, through different spheres of communication and multimedia, but particularly through book writing.

It is our mission to empower, develop and encourage our writers to write and publish in indegenous languages.

Background to Somarelo Puo Publishers

Somarela Puo Publishers is located and rooted in Moretele Village in Taung, in the North West Province of Mzanzi. It is registered in terms of Section 14 of the Companies Act of 2008. The registration took effect on the 23rd of August 2012. It is totally owned by the successful female Setswana writer, Jeanette Gabonnwe, whose vision is to promote and embrace the use of Setswana. She believes that in order for you to know where you are going, you need to know, understand and be proud of your background and your language.

Who is Jeanette Gabonnwe?

Letia Jeanette Gabonnwe is a South African living in the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District of the Greater Taung Local Municipality in North West Province. She is the Managing Director of Somarela Puo Publishers.

In 2007, she won first prize in the MotswedingFM drama competition for a piece about child abuse. In 2012, she received a Maskew Miller Longmans Literature award for a drama written in Setswana.

She has published two inspirational books: Ramakgasa, in Setswana (2010) and You give me, I give you in English (2012). In 2014, she published two children's books, a Setswana drama titled Fa ke gola and an English rhyme book titled Moon at Night. She also published a novel entitled Kgwetlho. A drama and a collection of short stories were pubished in 2015.

Her interests include writing, reading, travelling and sharing the word of Father God.
